Quarantine and isolation are considered important in any infectious disease. Proper management or adherence to quarantine and isolation can easily prevent the spread of infectious diseases. Everyone must be responsible if this system is to be effective.

What is quarantine and isolation? 

Quarantine is when a person has been in contact with an infected person or has come from a highly contagious infectious disease area, but the test does not show signs or germs of that infectious disease in his or her body. And the isolation is the presence of germs in his body. These two groups need to be kept separate from contact with other healthy people. In this case, the time to stay in quarantine for coronavirus is 14 days. But there are also differences. According to many experts, it may be a few more days. If no symptoms or germs are found in the person's body during these 14 days, the quarantine will be considered over, but if germs are found within 14 days, the person should be kept separate. And this management of isolation will be called isolation time. The duration of isolation will be fixed until the disease is cely cured or disinfected or on the advice of a doctor.

How to stay in the home quarantine

You have to stay in a separate room that is separate from the rest of the house and has ventilation facilities. If it is not possible in any way, it is necessary to maintain a distance of at least 1 meter or 3 feet from others.

  • Use a separate bed for sleeping.
  • If possible, separate bathrooms and toilets should be used. 
  • The mother must use a mask and wash her hands thoroughly before breastfeeding. 
  • No pets (birds) can be kept with the quarantine person. 

Masks should be used when staying in the same room with other members of the household or if you come within 1 meter and leave the house in case of emergency. If you get cold, spit, cough, vomiting etc. in the mask, you have to change it immediately and use a new mask.

After using tissue and medical mask, it should be thrown in the dustbin with lid.

Personal consumables may not be shared with anyone else.

Utensils — dishes, glasses, cups etc .; Towels and bed sheets cannot be shared with anyone else. After using these things, it should be cleaned well with soap and water.

 When will the quarantine end?  

The quarantine period of different infectious diseases may vary. However, based on the data available so far, the time limit for coronavirus is 14 days. 

What can be done while in quarantine

 ● Keep in touch with family and friends by telephone, mobile or internet.

● Adequate play materials can be given to the child and the toys need to be disinfected after playing.

Daily routine, such as eating, light exercise, etc. must be adhered to.

● Office work can be done from home if possible.

Reading books, listening to music, watching movies, or engaging in any recreational activity that is not against the rules.

For family members who are 

 currently healthy and do not have chronic diseases, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer, asthma, etc., a specific person should be employed as a caregiver. He will stay in that room or next door, do not change position.

No guests may be allowed to meet with anyone in the quarantine.

What the caretaker should do is 

 clean his hands regularly. Especially when in contact with a person in quarantine, before and after preparing food, before eating, before and after wearing gloves or gloves, whenever hands look dirty, do not touch anything with empty hands and in the house. 

Masks, gloves, tissues, etc. or other rubbish used in the care of the person in quarantine should be kept in the covered garbage container in that room. These wastes should be burnt without leaving them in the open. 

The floor, furniture, toilet and bathroom of the house should be cleaned at least once a day. Bleaching powder should be mixed with water and removed well. Ask the quarantine person to clean their clothes, bed sheets, towels and other used cloths with powdered soap or laundry soap and water and dry them.
